Product Name : Amprobe ACDC-54NAV 1000A AC/DC Navigator Clamp Meter with Temperature
The Amprobe ACDC-54NAV digital clamp meter is true RMS (root mean square) sensing, auto- or manual-ranging multimeter for measuring current, voltage, capacitance, resistance, frequency, temperature, harmonics, active power and power factor, and phase sequence in industrial electrical testing applications. It has a clamp that measures alternating current (AC) to 1,000 amp. The meter comes with detachable test leads that measure direct current (DC) to 1,000 amp, AC voltage and DC voltage to 1,000 volts (V), capacitance to 4,000 microfarads, resistance to 100 kilohms, and frequency to 10 kilohertz (kHz). The clamp has two jaws that can close around an electrical conductor up to 1.45" (37 mm) in diameter to measure current without touching or interrupting the circuit. The meter comes with a K-type thermocouple probe for measuring temperature. The meter has a joy-stick style controller that allows one-handed navigation and selection of display and features. It has a liquid crystal display (LCD) that shows readings both in digits and on a bar graph. The LCD is backlit for visibility in low light. The meter's non-contact voltage detector senses AC voltage without making contact with the circuit. The inrush reading displays measurement of entire motor inrush period at startup. A low pass filter helps improve accuracy of voltage and frequency measurements on adjustable-speed motor drives and equipment with background electrical noise. Power factor and active power readings provide data on the power efficiency of an electrical system. The meter measures total harmonic distortion (THD) and individual harmonics, which can degrade the quality of the power being supplied by the system. The peak + or - function records peak positive or negative values for AC current and AC voltage. The maximum or minimum reading mode displays the highest or lowest reading in a session to track a sudden increase or decrease in readings, and the average function displays the average of the recorded maximum or minimum values. An audible continuity sensor confirms that the circuit conducts electricity, and a diode test detects whether a circuit’s diodes are working properly. The hold function keeps the reading on the display, even after the meter is disconnected. The unit automatically turns off after 15 minutes of non-use to conserve battery life, and a low-battery indicator signals when the meter's batteries need to be replaced. The meter has an impact- and wear-resistant molded rubber body that can withstand drops up to 4 feet. A finger guard on the body of the meter helps protect fingers from shock.
This true RMS (root mean square) sensing meter provides accurate readings when measuring linear loads, such as standard induction motors and incandescent lights, where the current or voltage has a sinusoidal waveform, or non-linear loads, such as electronic devices or motors, where the current or voltage has a sinusoidal non-sinusoidal waveform. Two ranging modes (auto or manual) offer a range of operator control when taking readings. When turned on, the meter will be in auto-ranging mode and automatically selects select the correct operating range for the property being measured. It can be switched to manual-ranging mode, which requires that the operator choose the appropriate operating range. The meter has a 10,000-count resolution, meaning it can display up to 9,999 units (4 digits) before the operating range needs to be changed. It meets International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) safety standard 61010 and is certified for category III installations up to 1,000V, which covers items used with enclosed building circuit installations (service panel parts, branch circuits, and fixed installations that are connected directly to a building's AC power supply), and category IV installations up to 1,000V, which covers measurements at the source of the low-voltage supply, such as electricity meters and overcurrent protection devices. The unit comes with a soft vinyl carrying case.

Clamp meters (also called clamp-on meters) measure electrical current without cutting through wires or touching or interrupting the electrical circuit. Available in handheld or benchtop models, clamp meters diagnose problems in electrical equipment, wiring, and power supplies. The meter's current clamp has two jaws that fit around a conductor to take measurements. All clamp meters test for current. Some come with test leads and inputs for measuring voltage, capacitance, and resistance. They display information either in analog or digital form. Factors that influence meter choice include the electrical properties to be measured, the anticipated range of results, and the desired level of protection against transient voltages determine meter choice. Safety ratings are based on the International Electrotechnical Commission's (IEC) standards for low-voltage test equipment. IEC 61010 delineates four overvoltage installation categories. In general, a meter with a category IV rating will provide more protection against transient voltages than a meter with a lower category rating.
Amprobe manufactures electrical testing equipment for commercial, industrial, and home use. The company was founded in 1948 and is headquartered in Everett, WA.
